Commercialization has reached scale
Q2 2026 subscription revenue reached $3.877 billion, up 24.5%; cRPO was $13.2 billion, up 21%; total RPO reached $29.0 billion, also up 21%. ServiceNow AI ACV crossed $1 billion and agentic deployments increased ninefold in nine months. These are contract, visibility and deployment signals—not demo counts.
Why workflow matters more than the model
Enterprises need identity, permissions, context, approvals, auditability, security and cross-system execution. AI Control Tower, Action Fabric and the core workflow platform connect those layers. Models may come from multiple vendors, but enterprises still need a trusted control plane governing what agents can see, do and measure.
Revenue, margin and cash flow reinforce the case
Full-year subscription revenue guidance stands at $15.76–15.78 billion, with about 31.5% non-GAAP operating margin and 35% free-cash-flow margin guidance. First-half non-GAAP free cash flow was $2.299 billion, up 14%. AI investment has not broken the cash model, though stock compensation, acquisition integration and higher debt deserve separate scrutiny.
Where is valuation now?
At the September 4, 2026 close, the split-adjusted price was $141.26 and market capitalization about $146.1 billion. That is roughly 9.3x the midpoint of guided subscription revenue. Applying the 35% FCF-margin scenario implies roughly 27x free cash flow. This is no longer extreme overheating, but it is not obvious value: we classify it as neutral-to-reasonable and wait for better odds.
Decision
NOW is one of the best-evidenced Growth Leaders in enterprise AI. Monetization is real, and the moat is extending from workflow into agent governance. Keep it pinned for long-term monitoring—not in low-consensus Alpha. A more active position review requires cRPO and revenue near 20%, accelerating AI ACV, and no valuation re-expansion.
Next verification
- AI ACV growth versus total subscription growth
- Whether cRPO remains near or above 20%
- Expansion from pilots into cross-functional workflows
- Operating and free-cash-flow margins versus guidance
- Acquisition goodwill, debt and integration costs
- Whether earnings growth or a price reset improves expected returns
What would change our mind?
The thesis weakens if AI ACV fails to convert into subscription revenue and cRPO, agent deployment rises without expansion, or inference, integration and equity compensation place sustained pressure on free cash flow.
